The Nike Free 5.0 Trail Running Shoe is a great improvement on the already-comfy Free 5.0. The extreme flexibility from the grooved sole allows your foot to move as it wishes, not how the shoe wishes. Yet the insole provides arch support and the shoe provides enough cushioning to make every walk or run a joy. The shoes come with a recommended training schedule to slowly build your time in them, as your feet and body adjust to the extreme freedom.
Flexibility
The Nike Free 5.0 imitates being barefoot. The trail version has fewer grooves for flexibility than the 5.0, but is still extremely flexible. It comes with a schedule to build up your time in the shoe as your body gets used to the extreme flexibility. Walkers more than runners need a flexible shoe to allow the foot to roll through a step.
Upper
The upper is comfortable, suede-like, and designed to move with the foot. The shoe feels great, they are now my preferred shoe for wearing all day long. Most important for me, it doesn’t irritate my bunion. The trail version lacks the netting at the back of the heel that everybody rips with the 5.0, a big improvement. However, I’d be reluctant to take these suede shoes out on an actual trail, I would think they would rip easily and pick up debris.
Fast
You can get a great heel plant and roll-through for a fast walking stride. These shoes make my feet want to zoom.
Verdict
These are my new favorite in my daily shoe wardrobe, great for walks and runs of 30-60 minutes to start, comfortable around the office, school, or home.
Running in old or worn out shoes can lead to an increase in running injuries. Over time running shoes lose stability and shock absorption capacity. Lighter runners can get closer to the upper end of the recommendation while heavier runners are harder on shoes and should consider replacement shoes closer to 350 miles.

If you use two pairs of shoes you should still track mileage per shoe, and replace each after it has 350-550 miles on it.

This pack has two sneakers; ZX500 and the Superskate Hi. The Weave looks great. These shoes are best worn as indoor shoes. The interlocking weave may trap small grass seeds and dirt. If a twig or twine hooks into the weave, care needs to taken to free the sneaker to avoid damaging the weave.
The ZX500 and the Superskate Hi have similar patterns of design. Personally, I think the blue colored ZX500 Weave would look good on men and women. As for the purple color, certain people might shy away from the connotations of the color.
