Nike is pulling out all the stops to celebrate the release of the Air Force 25. In 1982, Nike introduced the Air Force 1, which was their first basketball shoe with the Nike Air cushioning system. Since then, Nike Air Force shoes have become a cultural phenomenon, being some of the most coveted and collected shoes in the world. The new Air Force 25 pays tribute to the original in design, and is being hyped as much as any shoe in recent memory. MTV aired a special earlier this month celebrating the shoe, as well as dedicating a slice of webspace at MTV.com. Commercials and promotional clips for the new Air Force 25 are a who’s who of basketball stars and feature young hip-hoppers Just Blaze and Juelz Santana. The campaign’s slogan is “The Second Coming: Our Game. Our Time.” When you’ve led the way for 25 years, you gotta go big.
